2017 Season Report
The Paphos Theatre Archaeological Project recently completed its 2017 excavation season at the World Heritage listed site of the Hellenistic-Roman period theatre at Kato Pafos and its surrounding environs. This is the eighteenth field season by the Australian archaeological mission, who have been working in the theatrical quarter since 1995.
2015 Season reportBetween the 11th and 19th of September 2015, the Australian Archaeological Mission to the site of the ancient theatre of Nea Paphos from the University of Sydney, working under the auspices of the Department of Antiquities of Cyprus, conducted a geo-mapping survey of the ruins of the town’s Roman colonnades.

2014 Preliminary Excavation reportThe Australian archaeological mission to Kato Pafos has just completed its sixteenth season of excavation at the site of the Hellenistic-Roman theatre of Nea Pafos for the Department of Antiquities of Cyprus. This season the Australian team, directed by Dr Craig Barker of the University of Sydney, worked from 16 August to 20 September 2014.

2009 preliminary excavation reportThe University of Sydney conducted its twelfth season of excavations at the site of the Hellenistic-Roman theatre of Nea Pafos under the auspices of the Department of Antiquities of Cyprus between the 3rd and 31st of October 2009.

2007-2008 Preliminary excavation reportWith the clearance of the remains of the theatre nearly finished, the project is currently focused on the completion of a major academic excavation report and architectural description under the direction of Professor Green. A smaller scale excavation continues at the site, under the co-leadership of the author and Dr Smadar Gabrieli, aimed at exploring the relationship between the theatre and the ancient city.
