Walls, cobbled floors, painted plaster, marble figures and huge amounts of pottery have already been uncovered and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the season reveals.
My name is Taryn and it’s my third year digging at Paphos. This season there are four trenches currently being excavated (with the possibility of more being opened up in the near future). Two are located at the bottom of the theatre while the other two are located towards the top of the theatre. The season has started off extremely hot and humid making digging through the various parts of road surface found within a few of our trenches almost unbearable. Fortunately for us however, the archaeology found so far beneath the modern road has made it all worthwhile.
