Its the teams first day in Paphos in 2012, here to work our next excavation season (our fourteenth!) under the auspices of the Department of Antiquities of Cyprus. (The Department's website is here!)
Over the coming five weeks, join us as various members of the team explain the work they do, how excavations seasons in Cyprus are different from their regular work or study back in Australia and some of their impressions of Cyprus and fieldwork more generally.
Today was a rest day for most of the team to get over jetlag, with the project directors having meetings with our Department colleagues at the Paphos Museum and the trench leaders working out where trenches will be located and where spoilheaps will be placed today.
The site is a little overgrown but we will do some work starting tomorrow clearing it up and getting ready to excavate!!!
