2019 Contributing volunteer Application

    Contributing volunteer program application
    ​2019 Australian archaeological excavations at the Paphos Theatre Site

    Please make sure to fill out all questions prior to submitting your application. All answers will be kept confidential.
    If you have any questions or problems filling out the application form please contact us.
    Upon acceptance of your application the project Director's will need a copy of your passport. Australians do not require visas for entry into the Republic of Cyprus. Make sure your passport has at least six months validity from your planned date of return to Australia. (international applicants please check your own Government's travel requirements and contact the project directors if you have any questions) .

    Please include your emergency contact of next of Kin. All phone numbers and addresses should include  international codes in case of an emergency

    Please list any allergies, medical conditions or current medications you are taking. This will not effect your application to join the team, however it is an essential health and safety requirement of the  project.   

    ​The physical work undertaken during archaeological excavation often includes high exertion physical activities in a variety weather conditions. It is up to all individuals to assess their own physical fitness when applying to be a contributing volunteer. If you have any questions regarding the physical aspects of archaeological work please contact us. 



    A key part of the program is learning new skills in all aspects of archaeological field work. Previous digging experience is not necessary for volunteers applying to join our field season. However, please list any previous field experience you may have had.


    ​Please list a few reasons why your interested in joining the Australian Archaeological Excavations at the Paphos Theatre Site.

    Further information

    The 2019 field season is scheduled for 5 weeks, approximately 30 September - 1 November.
    We expect members of the contributing volunteer team to be available for the entire field season. If for some reason you will not be available for the full season please let us know using the comment box on the right and this will be taken into account during the application process.

    2019 contributing volunteer fees $4900 AUD
    We expect contributing volunteers to make their own way to Cyprus in addition to the contribution of $4900. This contribution covers the cost of twin share accommodation in the Crystallo Apartments, all meals on work days, and archaeological training alongside professional and student archaeologists. The excavation will provide tuition in archaeological excavation and finds processing, archaeological collections management and tours of archaeological and historical sites of interest with expert guides.

    If your application is accepted the Directors will provide further i
    nformation on the project, travelling in Cyprus and assistance in co-ordinating your arrival and departure with the rest of the team.
