A new exhibition The Sea and the Sky: The Art of Ancient Cyprus is opening at the end of the month at the Nicholson Museum, The University of Sydney and is curated by our project's director Dr Craig Barker. The exhibition examines the artistic traditions of Ancient Cyprus looking at ceramic forms, decorative techniques, depictions of birds, animals and figures. It delves into the many influences of the wider Mediterranean and the natural resources available in Cyprus to determine why ancient Cypriot art is so unique. The exhibition will open on March 1 with an evening event at the Nicholson including drinks, canapes and a lecture by Craig titled 'Cypriot Art in the Nicholson Museum'.
